I usually don't write reviews of the
major league parks I've visited because this is primarily a minor league
site. But, hey, it's Fenway! Besides, with the lowest
seating capacity in the majors, this park certainly qualifies as a
"small-park".
I am not a Red Sox fan, per se.
But, I am a fan of classic old ballparks, and when I visited Fenway in
June of 2005, I felt like I had come home. Everything about the
place is just perfect. From the surroundings, to the intimate size
of the park to the Green Monster ... perfect.
There is something here that you can't
get just about anywhere else, except possibly Wrigley Field in
Chicago. You can even sense it in the fans. They cram the
Yawkey Way entrance to the park well before the 5:00 opening of the
gates. They wear red and blue. They sing together.
They eat Fenway Franks together. There must be something about an
80+ year old curse - and the joy shared when it is broken - that unifies
a group of people. .
