The Front Office/Staff

These folks are probably the most underappreciated people in baseball.  They take care of the logistics, sell us our tickets, cook our food, and broadcast the games on the radio for when we can't make it to the park.  And that's just the tip of the iceberg.  And so, small-parks.com would like you to meet just a few of these special folks.

Erie Seawolves

             Kale Beers

Kale Beers is the director of media relations and the broadcaster for the Seawolves.  He was very gracious in letting us have access to the park and to players.  Since he travels with the team, he's been around the League a few times, and he has some definite opinions on the parks.  He thinks the  parks in Akron, Altoona, and Trenton are nice, but that they lack the character of some of the older parks, especially GPU Stadium in Reading.  In Kale's words, Canal Park is the Jacob's Field and GPU Stadium the Fenway Park of the minor leagues.
Walt Moreland is one of the ushers at the park, and he was the person who showed us the luxury boxes.  He's also worked at parks in Cleveland and the old park in Erie.  He told us a lot about the history of baseball in Erie and is seems to be a baseball fan's baseball fan.

Dee Veneziano

Dee Veneziano is quite possibly the nicest concession stand worker you'd ever want to meet.  She's a pretty good salesperson as well: she sold me on a $4 chicken sandwich when it was $1 hot dog day at Uht Park!  Dee and her husband used to have a restaurant in Erie, but now they have "retired" and they run a grill at the stadium right behind the left field bleachers.  If you ever visit Uht Park, be sure to visit Dee for me!

Altoona Curve

Rob Egan is the radio broadcaster for the Altoona Curve.  I've met Rob on several occasions, all of them in stadiums other than Blair County Ballpark.  Rob has been around in his career, having been the announcer for teams in South Carolina, California, and nearby Johnstown, PA.  As you might expect, he's well qualified to rate the Eastern League parks; in fact, he even has written a small piece for the Curve's program on the topic.  Like Kale Beers, his favorite park is GPU Stadium in Reading.  Must be a broadcaster thing.

Rob Egan

Reading Phillies

Rob Hackash , the internet director for the Reading Phillies sent us some very nice comments regarding our site:

"Your sight looks very nice.  I looked at our page and thought it was very well done..."

"Thanks for doing such a good job with our park."

Thanks Rob!
